Step-by-step

Step 1
In our example, we’ve used edding gloss paint markers in pastel rose (colour code 138), pastel blue (139), pastel green (137), pastel yellow (135) and black (001). The template is available for download on our website.

Step 2
Before using a gloss paint marker, you need to activate it: Shake the marker vigorously with the cap on, then remove the cap, place the nib on absorbent paper and pump it up and down gently a few times until ink appears in the nib. Now you’re all ready to get started. (And don’t forget to always store the marker horizontally after use.)

Step 3
First, print out the template on A4 paper and place it under the fabric of the umbrella. To prevent it slipping, you may wish to secure it with adhesive tape. The hand-lettered saying reads: “Rain is just confetti from the sky”. Using the black gloss paint marker, gradually transfer the lettering onto the umbrella.

Step 4
Finally, activate the pastel-coloured gloss paint markers as described in step 2 and use them to drizzle lots of bright raindrops onto the umbrella.
