Candle holders with an autumnal feel

Ambient candlelight for those darker autumn days

When the leaves start to change colour, acorns fall from the trees and the wind whistles round the house, it’s nice to make things really cosy within your own four walls. And ambient candlelight is a vital ingredient! You can even make your own matching candle holders with ease: take some mini metal containers such as small flowerpots and add decorative touches to them using gloss paint markers – like the gold-coloured squirrel shown in our example.

Step-by-step

Step 1

First, clean the outside of your metal pot or container. Download the template with the squirrel and place it in position. You can draw on the containers freehand or use a pencil to draw the outline of the motif onto the metal.

Step 2

Before using the paint markers, please activate as follows: shake the marker vigorously with the cap still on and press the marker up and down a few times on a piece of absorbent paper until ink appears in the tip. You can now get started. Colour in your pre-drawn motif using the gloss paint marker in gold. After using the marker, always store horizontally. If you want, you can line the container with moss and add further decoration using berries and rosehips. Finally, insert the candle.
