For this creative idea, we used the edding 2185 gel roller set with 7 metallic colours, plus a black gel roller. First, decide on your layout and sketch it out lightly in pencil. Or if you prefer, you can use our templates.
The illustrations for the baby’s weight, length, date and time of birth can either be drawn freehand or transferred from the template with the aid of carbon paper. To do so, place the carbon paper between what will be your card and the template, then trace over the motifs in pencil. The images can now be seen on the card and you can go over them using a gel roller.
Now colour in your card in whatever way you choose. Don’t forget to fill in all the details, including the baby’s name, before adding any embellishments using gel rollers in a range of colours. For a really nice effect, you can emphasise individual letters or highlight key words by making them more fancy and ornate.
Decorate the narrow strip of paper by adding a leaf pattern. Now write the baby’s name on it in calligraphy style and colour in the trailing leaves. Punch a hole at the top of both paper tags, including the photo strip, and fasten them together with matching string or ribbon. And there you have it – your bespoke baby announcement card is finished!
