For best results, start by washing the candle holders (a dishwasher is ideal for this) and then wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential for removing any invisible protective film applied during manufacture.
Using your card, cut out the numbers 1 - 4 in the appropriate size, then stick them centrally onto the candle holders - or for convenience, use ready-made self-adhesive numbers.
Porcelain brushpens are ready to use. The smooth application ensures an even colour distribution without drips. The tip of the porcelain brushpen is very flexible, allowing you to create very fine lines or broad brush strokes.
Tiny dots are easy to achieve with the brush tip; use the outer edge of the brush tip for the larger ones. The dots right next to the letters should be very close together, to make the numbers stand out. The dots further way need to be more spaced out. If you make a mistake, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or cotton bud. Corrections can be made at any time before the pattern is fixed by baking in the oven. Once the design is ready, leave it to dry for 15 minutes.
Carefully remove the paper numbers from the porcelain, and any adhesive residue left behind.
Next, place the painted cup on a cold oven rack, slide it into the oven and bake it in the pre-heated oven at 160°C for 25 minutes. Leave it in the oven to cool afterwards. After baking, your custom-designed candle holders will be dishwasher-safe.
