Step-by-step

Step 1

The handy set of four edding 1340 metallic brush pens includes four attractive metallic shades. To create your design, first cut your sheet of black paper to the size and shape of your journal.

Step 2

Next, print out the template. Place both the template and the carbon paper on top of your sheet of black paper, then trace over the motifs with a pencil. This is a really easy way of transferring your design onto the dark paper, but you can also draw it freehand if you prefer.

Step 3

Once you’ve traced your design, use your brush pens to go over the motifs. Just let your imagination run wild and design your garlands in whatever colours you like, such as silver garlands decorated with Christmas pendants in red metallic and blue metallic.

Step 4

The classic Christmas colours of gold and silver look particularly good on dark paper and the soft brush tip allows you to create both fine and broad brush strokes.

Step 5

Once you’ve finished your design, stick the insert in the middle of your journal, making sure you still have enough space to write your entries on either side.
