Small gifts, beautifully packaged

Whether you’ve baked your own Christmas biscuits for your neighbour or you’ve bought a gift voucher for a delicious meal for your best friend, the packaging should also look really impressive and – ideally - sustainable. An empty jam jar, for example, makes ideal packaging for a whole host of mini treats and gifts. You can design the jars however you like using edding gloss paint markers. And, if you fancy it, you can also decorate small gift tags made from paper using brush pens in metallic shades.

Step-by-step

Step 1

Print out the templates and cut out your chosen motif.

Step 2

Place the motif inside the clean jar and attach with an adhesive strip.

Step 3

First activate your gloss paint markers as follows: shake the marker, with the cap on, until the mixing balls inside the marker start to rattle. Remove the cap, then carefully pump the marker up and down until paint fills the nib. Test out on a piece of scrap paper. Always store horizontally after use.

Step 4

You can now transfer the motif onto the jar and colour it in using the edding gloss paint markers. It’s incredibly easy to do.

Step 5

Use gloss paint markers or permanent spray in a matching colour to decorate the jar lid. Once the lid is dry, use the hot glue gun to attach a mini Christmas bauble to the lid.

Step 6

Gift tags made of stiff paper are ideal if you want to give your gift jar an extra bit of pzazz. You can add your own unique inscriptions using metallic brush pens which are particularly effective on dark paper.
