Step-by-step

Step 1
If the table runner is new, start by washing out the starch and allow to dry. Enlarge the "cross-stitch pattern” template to the desired size. With a little practice you can try recreating the motif without using a template.

Step 2
Position the template in the centre beneath the table runner. Transfer the motifs onto the runner using the textile makers. The edding 4600 textile pen is better for fine precise strokes, as the nib width is only 1mm. If you're working with different colours and don't want the colours to blend, then always allow the first colour to dry. You can blend/mix the colours together before the ink dries.

Step 3
Fix the drawing into place by ironing the table runner without steam. After fixing, the design will be colour-fast when washed at up to 60°C.
