Before decorating, clean thoroughly in the dishwasher and use a detergent or methylated spirits to remove fingerprints or traces of grease. As you decorate, make sure there are no unnecessary fingerprints underneath the ink as you apply it. Only use the brushpen for decorative purposes. Avoid decorating areas of the porcelain that are used for cutting, eating or drinking. For example, only decorate the rim of a plate or the outside of a mug.
Try out the various designs on paper first. If you make a mistake, immediately remove it with a damp cloth or cotton bud.
Place the figure on a cold rack in a pre-heated oven at 160°C for 25 minutes. Then leave it to cool down in the oven. After baking, the design on your figure is dishwasher-safe.
Daily cleaning: avoid friction and rubbing by positioning the item in the dishwasher so that it's not in contact with other items of crockery or cutlery.
Hints & tips:
Darker porcelain can only be painted on with the dark porcelain pens.
To apply multiple colours without mixing the shades, allow the first colour to dry before applying the next.
Fine points and lines work best when you hold the pen at a sharp angle and only place the nib tip on the figure.
You will enjoy the intense colour longer if you store the brushpen horizontally after use. Horizontal storage keeps the colour pigments in the ink evenly distributed.
