Step-by-step

Step 1

The Manga creative set contains everything you need to get started, including templates and suitably sized sheets of colouring paper. Before you start drawing, you first need to activate your acrylic markers. To do this, shake the marker with the cap still on until you can hear the mixing ball rattling inside. Next, carefully press the nib down a few times until the ink fills the tip. You can also try out a few practice marks on a piece of scrap paper.

Step 2

The easiest way to transfer the template design onto your sheet of colouring paper is to attach the template to a window using adhesive strips so that all the lines are clearly visible. You can then trace the design onto your card using a pencil.

Step 3

Now it's time to start colouring in your design. In our example, we've used a warm beige for the face and coloured in the character's top and some parts of her cap in classy mauve. Opulent turquoise is also a great choice of colour for her hair.

Step 4

Finally, you can finish off your character by drawing around the outline using the edding 1800 profipen which comes with the set.

Step 5

The fine acrylic markers can also be used to add awesome colour highlights such as a bit of extra shine in the hair or a glint in the eyes. White works especially well for this.
