Step-by-step

Step 1
For best results, start by washing the crockery (a dishwasher is ideal for this) and then wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential for removing any (invisible) protective film applied during manufacture. Start by thinking up a phrase or a theme; our example shows “Isn’t this a lovely day”. We recommend trying out the lettering beforehand on a separate piece of paper to see which style you like best.
Now it’s time to add your design. Porcelain brushpens are ready to use and the smooth application ensures an even colour distribution without dripping or clumping. The brush tip of the edding porcelain brushpen is very versatile, so it’s easy to draw both fine lines and broad brush strokes.

Step 2
We recommend painting the outside of the bowl only, to prevent the paint coming into contact with food. If you're using more than one colour for your design, always let the first colour dry before applying the next. If you make a mistake, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or cotton bud. Corrections can be made at any time before the pattern is made fixed by baking in the oven.

Step 3
Once the design is finished, leave it to dry for 15 minutes. Then place the painted bowl on a cold oven rack, slide it into the oven and bake in a pre-heated oven at 160 °C for 25 minutes. Leave it in the oven to cool afterwards. After baking, the bowl will be dishwasher-safe.
