Step-by-step

Step 1
For this project, you can use any kind of porcelain plate. Simply choose your favourite colours. For best results, it’s worth cleaning your plate with a cloth and some methylated spirit before you start, in order to remove any fingerprints and dust.

Step 2
Next, you’ll need to plan out your design for your plate. If you want to use several colours, it’s best to apply one colour and then let it dry before applying the next. In our example, we’ve chosen a mix of red and orange shades.

Step 3
When creating your design, remember that any mistakes can be easily wiped away using a damp cloth or cotton bud. Until you heat-fix your design in the oven, you can make corrections whenever you like.

Step 4
Once you’re happy with your design, leave it to dry for 15 minutes and then place your plate on a cold oven shelf and bake in a preheated at 160°C for 25 minutes. Leave in the oven to cool. Your design will then be fixed and dishwasher-safe.

Step 5
Once your plate has cooled completely, wet the adhesive plate hanger…

Step 6
… and apply it to the back of the plate.

Step 7
Insert a nail into the wall and hang your finished plate.
