Step-by-step

Step 1
Gather all your materials before you start. You’ll need the edding 1340 brush pens, colour mixer and edding 1800 profipen supplied in the Colour Happy Big Box. You can see everything you need at a glance in our photo.

Step 2
First of all, print out both templates and place them under the corresponding page in your book so you can trace over them.

Step 3
The motifs will show through the paper, so you can simply draw over them with the edding 1800 profipen.

Step 4
The brush pen colour mixer lets you easily blend two colours from different 1340 brush pens, resulting in stunning colour gradients. Let’s say you want to make a transition from orange to red: insert the orange pen from below and the red pen from above, so the nibs are just touching. Hold in a vertical position and wait a few seconds.

Step 5
Very soon, the orange pen will have absorbed red ink, and you’re ready to put pen to paper and create beautiful colour gradients. After a while, the brush pen will revert back to orange, which means all the red ink has been used up, but you can, of course, continue blending other colour combinations.

Step 6
Write “Happy Birthday” onto the actual page with the aid of the light blue edding 1340, or whatever colour you fancy. Trace the balloon templates (one for each month), then go over the outlines with the edding 1800. Next, fill in the balloons with snazzy colour gradients as described in Step 4. To finish your one-page birthday calendar, use the profipen to fill in the names of the months and record the birthdays of your friends and family.
