Step-by-step

Step 1
Make sure you have all your materials to hand before you start. You’ll need some edding 1200 colour pens in soft pastels and a dark, contrasting colour such as black. You can see all the colours you need at a glance in our photo.

Step 2
Start by planning your page layout; it may help to sketch it out faintly in pencil first. For a really beautiful effect, try writing the headings and selected words in hand lettering. Now take the fine-tipped edding 1200 colour pen in black and go over all the pencil lines.

Step 3
Intersperse the text with adornments, borders and pictures to make it look more interesting. The edding 1200 colour pen is effortless to use, whether for writing text or drawing symbols such as stars and arrows. You can use the pastels to add lovely, delicate touches and make wording and images stand out. Adding photos and funny stickers is another good way to liven up your journal.

Step 4
You can spice up the pages with quotes and doodles just as you like. We provide you with various templates for download.
