Business activities

The aim of all our business activities is to develop towards corporate sustainability, i.e. a company whose purpose is the sustainable development of society with the aim of maintaining and creating a world worth living in for future generations. Financial success forms a stable economic foundation that provides the means for this purpose in terms of economic sustainability. The contribution that the edding group wants to make can be found in our WHY statement:

“We care so that you dare to be who you are”

This includes a commitment to freedom of expression as part of the right to privacy as a fundamental right of every human being based on our corporate values of authenticity, empowerment and truly caring.

As the parent company of the edding Group, edding AG is responsible for the entrepreneurial management of its subsidiaries and holdings. All central management functions in the form of holding functions and the group-wide operating specialized service centers are located at its headquarters in Ahrensburg. Since 2021, the Group's business activities have been divided into six business units, which enable their respective user groups to make information, thoughts or feelings visible on a wide variety of surfaces, in line with our WHY statement.

International sales

The business units of edding use subsidiaries in various countries as a sales platform. These include in particular platform companies edding International GmbH, Ahrensburg and Legamaster International B.V., Netherlands, all of which operate internationally. These distribute edding, Legamaster and Playroom brands in around 100 countries around the world, generally through independent sales partners (distributors) unless edding is represented locally through a platform company. Sales to private and commercial end users are generally through all types of trade partner, including traditional wholesalers and retailers, as well as large-scale retail outlets (supermarkets, DIY stores, etc.), mail-order companies and online distribution channels. With the newer business units, Industrial Tech Solutions and Lifestyle, direct sales are gaining in importance.

Office & Industry Supplies

The products developed by this business unit enable professional users in offices, industry, trades and education to express their ideas and improve efficiency, innovation and creativity with high-quality and reliable products for the office and for industry. Ranges include board markers and flipchart markers as well as all types of permanent marker and specialist markers for highly specialised applications.

Creative & Home

This segment’s products enable private end users to channel their creative skills and overcome challenges around the home. Alongside specialist creative ranges such as paint sprays and acrylic markers, the range also includes smart solutions for the home such as carpenter pens, laundry markers and permanent markers.

Industrial Tech Solutions

This business unit’s team supplies technical solutions that enable professional users to visualise information in an industrial or technical setting. This includes our range of compact printers as well as easycheck, a digital service solution for driving licence checks.

Collaboration @ Work

This business unit’s work improves the quality of collaboration in professional life. Traditional work and office environments are undergoing fundamental change, which is why, in addition to the previous pure product sales of whiteboards, flipcharts and electronic solutions (e.g. interactive e-screens), we now also offer advice and complete solutions for collaboration in the future work environment under the Legamaster brand offer. In addition, the know-how of the "Playroom" brand strengthens edding's competence in this area.

Lifestyle

Our colleagues in this part of the business create lifestyle products and settings which make it possible for everyone to celebrate their individual power of expression. Core offer is the edding tattoo concept.

New Ink Solutions

This business unit is working to make edding a trailblazer in new ink solutions. The focus here is the identification of trends for future-orientated surface technologies, intended to make our lives more sustainable and innovative through new functionality. The aim is to successfully develop and launch high-tech products relating to ink.
