Birthday card

… with a floral decoration guaranteed not to wilt!

This lovingly decorated birthday card is bound to bring a smile to the face of your loved ones. That’s because homemade cards are always that little bit special. Recipients can instantly spot the love and care that’s gone into a handmade card. The impressive design features handcrafted paper flowers that will never wilt. The edding 1340 brush pen in metallic shades lends the flowers a wonderful shiny look. And because the ink is opaque, even dark paper can be decorated to great effect.

Step-by-step

Step 1

The edding 1340 metallic brush pen comes in a handy set of six metallic shades. For the birthday card greeting, we used a black brush pen. You can see all the materials you need in an instant in this photo.

Step 2

Print out the template and transfer the individual flowers onto sheets of paper in different colours using a pencil. You can also draw the flowers freehand or transfer them using carbon paper. If you’re using black paper, we recommend yellow carbon paper because it will be easier to see the lines later on.

Step 3

Go over the outline of the individual flowers using the edding 1340 brush pen in matching metallic shades - as shown here in violet metallic. For the stem on the black sheet of paper, we used the silver brush pen.

Step 4

We decorated the pink-coloured paper by adding a flower in red metallic.

Step 5

Next, roughly cut out the individual flowers. It’s important not to cut too close to the motif as you want to make sure the flowers stay sturdy.

Step 6

Cut out the other motifs in similar fashion.

Step 7

Obviously don’t forget the “Happy Birthday” greeting which you can recreate to great effect using the brush pen. Depending on how firmly you press, you can create fine lines or broad brush strokes. Simply experiment by first writing a couple of lines on a piece of paper.
