Put a smile on your face with this eye-catching tissue dispenser

Thanks to this attractive box, you’ll always have a tissue close at hand whenever you need one, be it to help you through a nasty cold or dab away tears of joy. This idea is also a lovely upcycling project because you can reuse old unwanted jars - ideally ones with a plastic lid because you’ll need to pierce a hole in the top. Classic permanent markers from edding are perfect for creating a quick and eye-catching design that will boost your mood and, hopefully, aid a speedy recovery.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see all the materials you need at a glance in this photo. To create your design, you’ll need an edding 3000 permanent marker in black and purple (or another colour of your choice), plus the edding 8180 label removal marker. You’ll also need to print out the design template.

Step 2

The edding 8180 label removal marker takes the hassle out of removing labels: simply moisten the label thoroughly using the label removal marker and wait a few minutes for it to get to work.

Step 3

You’ll then be able to peel off the label without any problem. Give the jar another thorough clean before moving on to the design stage.

Step 4

Fold back the edges of the template so that the unprinted parts above the wording and below the motif are tucked out of the way. Then place the template inside the jar, making sure it is correctly positioned to allow you to easily copy the design.

Step 5

Use your black permanent marker to trace and colour in the cat motif, including the outline of the speech bubble.

Step 6

Add the words “Bless you” using your purple marker.

Step 7

Next, use your scissors to pierce a hole in the lid and enlarge the hole so that it is big enough to allow you to pull out your tissues later on.

Step 8

Finally, fill your jar with tissues. To ensure they can be taken out easily, we recommend folding the tissues in half and placing them upright inside the jar.
