Step-by-step

Step 1
The acrylic markers are available in a wide selection of vibrant shades. Simply select your favourites. In our example, we’ve used the 3D double liner in black, gold and silver, the fine edding 5300 acrylic marker in silver and black, the medium edding 5100 acrylic marker in white and the broad edding 5000 acrylic marker in gold. When it comes to painting, smooth, round pebbles are best.

Step 2
Before you begin, wipe the pebbles with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Next, activate the markers: shake each marker with the cap still on until the mixing balls inside can clearly be heard. Carefully prime the pen by pressing the nib up and down until ink appears in the tip. Test the pen on a piece of scrap paper. The 3D double liner is ready to use right away without the need to activate it.

Step 3
If you want to play it safe, we recommend first sketching your designs on the pebbles with a pencil before colouring them in using the acrylic markers.

Step 4
For the pebble with the pattern of dots, first draw two black circles spaced apart using the fine acrylic marker and leave to dry briefly. Next, take the 3D double liner in white and open the thin end of the tube. Simply squeeze the tube lightly and add little dots onto the round circles. You can also fill the gaps in between the circles by adding dots in silver and gold, tightly packed together. Make sure that the other end of the tube is properly closed as you do so.

Step 5
Using the broad acrylic marker, you can colour in complete areas really nicely with just a few strokes.
