Wedding mugs or cups are a beautiful creative idea and are great fun to make. They also act as a real eye-catcher at the wedding reception. The newlyweds have said YES, and guests are welcomed with the perfect decoration. But best of all: the enchanting design can be easily created in virtually next to no time – edding porcelain brush pens make it possible. We’ve got a template for the letters, and if you make a mistake or don’t like the motif, simply wipe the paint off using a damp cloth.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see everything you need in this photo. We’ve used a black porcelain brush pen for the design on the mugs. Before you start your design, use a cloth and methylated spirit to remove any dust and grease marks from the porcelain.

Step 2

Print out the template and lay it in position. Use a pencil to draw the outline of the letters on the porcelain. Decorate each mug with a different letter.

Step 3

Carefully colour in each of the letters using the porcelain brush pen. It’s best to start with the outline and then fill in the letters. If you make a mistake, simply use a damp cloth or a damp cotton bud to correct the design.

Step 4

In this photo you can see the letter S. A slightly ornate design looks particularly stylish.

Step 5

Once you’ve finished painting, leave the porcelain to dry for approx. 15 minutes. In the meantime, pre-heat the oven to 160°C (upper and lower heat), then place the mugs on a cold oven shelf and heat-fix the paint for 25 minutes.

Step 6

Afterwards, leave the mugs to cool in the oven. Heat-fixing allows you to wash the porcelain afterwards without any problems. A few delicate twigs and flowers will transform the mugs into decorative vases in next to no time.
