Step-by-step
Step 1
Make sure you have all the materials you need before you start. We chose the trend colour neo mint (colour code 939) for our portrait.
Step 2
The first step is to use masking tape to mark off the section of the picture that you want to paint. It can be diagonal, horizontal or vertical – whatever you fancy!
Step 3
The section that’s not going to be painted should be carefully masked so that no paint comes into contact with it. Make sure the edge of the film is securely sealed. A practical tip is to use pre-taped masking film which comes with a self-adhesive edge.
Step 4
Pull the masking film across the entire upper section of the picture. You should also use film to cover your work area really well. Why not take a look at our Spray basics section where we’ve got handy tips to help you achieve the perfect spraying technique.
Step 5
First, shake the spray can for 3 minutes, then remove the sprayhead and prise off the safety ring with the aid of a screwdriver. We recommend you spray at a distance of around 25 cm, using horizontal and vertical strokes to ensure that the paint covers more evenly. To prevent drips forming, use rapid strokes and don’t spray too long in one spot.
Step 6
Let the paint dry for about 30 minutes, then carefully remove the film. And there – your new work of art is finished!
