Step-by-step

Step 1
You can see everything you need for this project in the photo below. The spray paint used is edding 5200 permanent spray. Simply select your preferred colour. In our example, we've chosen moss green (904) and a white gloss paint marker.

Step 2
First, you need to divide the plastic pipe into three equal lengths. If using a 1-metre pipe, each piece should be around 33 cm long. You can mark up your measurements using the gloss paint marker.

Step 3
Next, cut the pipe into three pieces at the points you’ve just marked. Smooth over any rough edges using the sandpaper.

Step 4
Spread mounting adhesive along two of the pipes and glue them together.

Step 5
Next, glue the third pipe on top using some more mounting adhesive.

Step 6
Cover your workspace with a protective sheet or paper before you start spray painting. You'll find lots of handy tips for creating the perfect spray paint finish on our Permanent spray basics page. Once you're ready, spray the tray with the moss green paint. For best results, we recommend holding the spray can around 25 cm from the tray and applying the paint in a criss-cross motion. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly.

Step 7
Next, spray the three pipes with the moss green paint. Spray one side first and then leave to dry thoroughly before turning the pipes over and spraying the other side. The pipes will be the legs for your table, so it's important to get a good even coverage all over.

Step 8
Once all the parts are dry, apply a coat of mounting adhesive to the ends of the pipes…

Step 9
... and place the tray on top. Press down firmly.
