Are fineliner pens waterproof?

The precision fineliners presented above are waterproof thanks to their pigment ink . However, please note that not all edding fineliners have this property. All other fineliners are largely smudge-proof and waterproof once dry. Our Office Fineliners, edding 88 and edding 89 , should not come into contact with water, otherwise the notes will quickly turn into illegible ink stains.

The ink in our edding 55 fineliner is water-soluble before it dries . This allows for beautiful watercolor effects.

Are fineliners felt-tip pens?

The difference between a fiber-tip pen, commonly called a "felt-tip pen," and a fineliner lies in the writing tip. In a fiber-tip pen, this is made of polyester in the form of synthetic fibers.

In contrast, the writing tips of our fineliners are made either of harder polyester, commonly known as plastic, or a special thermoplastic called polyoxymethylene. This plastic exhibits particularly high strength and hardness . This makes edding fineliners precise writing instruments that effortlessly produce fine lines.
