We live sustainability. At edding, we try to live up to our responsibility for tomorrow's world every day. Like a continuous green thread, our efforts run through the various stages in the life of an edding product with the aim of constantly improving our sustainability performance. And here, the result is greater than the sum of the individual parts.
Research and development
For us, sustainability begins in the mind
Sustainability aspects are already taken into consideration during product development. Can renewable raw materials or recycled materials be used for the product? Is it possible to make the product refillable, offer the appropriate refill systems and possibly even provide replacement nibs? Making the product last as long as possible should be the top priority. Can we ensure that the suppliers of our materials act according to our Code of Conduct? How can we ensure the lowest possible CO2 emissions already in the procurement of materials?
Production
More environmentally conscious production
At our production facility in Bautzen, Germany, sustainability is a top priority and the highest standards are ensured. Not only our sustainable EcoLine series and our refill systems but also many of the refillable markers are produced here on state-of-the-art machines. We use not just green electricity, but also generate solar energy thanks to our own photovoltaic systems. Of course, we are also certified according to the ISO standards 50001 (energy), 14001 (environment) and 45001 (occupational health and safety).
Products & Packaging
Sustainable from unpacking to refilling
Whether for the EcoLine series, the refillable markers or our refill systems, the folding boxes or outer packaging used for them are made of 80% recycled material and can of course be recycled. The same already applies to many of the set packagings. Plastic sets are also partly made of recycled material and are to be converted further. The reduction of CO2 emissions from packaging is a key target by 2026.
We offer sustainable and durable product solutions for all situations. Not only in the office but also at school, university or at home. Do whiteboard or flipchart markers ever get left open in the heat of the moment in the conference room? No problem thanks to cap-off technology, which prevents products that have been left open from drying out quickly. The marker only writes pale? The nib no longer seems to be in perfect shape after long use? This does not usually mean that it is a case for the rubbish but simply that it can be brought back into shape with a refill or a replacement nib.
Transport and warehouse
Sustainably on the move
Sustainability always has priority for us: from the factory to the central warehouse and from the central warehouse to the trading partners. All routes are always planned and carried out with the most energy-efficient goals in mind. Already today, 80% of all transports are carried out in a CO2-neutral manner, and we are continually striving to improve this rate.

For example, plastic can be saved in production and the amount of waste reduced. A major added value is the flexibility of the refill bottles, which can be combined with a wide range of edding markers. And finally, refilling is also easy on the wallet.
