DIY garden bar made from pallets

It’s time to get your summer party started!

This DIY drinks bar looks amazing and is guaranteed to get guests talking at your next garden party! The fresh, fun design really has the wow factor. What’s more, you can make it yourself using just a few pallets and edding permanent spray for that personal design touch. edding acrylic spray paints offer excellent coverage and fast drying speeds. In our example, we’ve gone for a combination of vibrant yellow and light lavender, but any colour combinations are possible. With 35 colours available, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Шаг 1

Everything you need for this project is shown in the picture below. You can choose any colours you like from our range of edding 5200 permanent sprays, but in our example we‘ve opted for traffic yellow (905), light lavender (931), silky matt clear lacquer (995) and a black acrylic marker. You can also use standard Euro pallets. Remember you’ll need to sand down any rough edges and paint them using white permanent spray paint before you start.

Before you start painting, cover your workspace using painter’s fleece. Next, remove the cap on your spray can and detach the safety ring using a screwdriver. You might also want to check out the “Permanent spray basics” page on our website for some handy tips on creating the perfect finish.

The first step is to paint the bottom third of your pallets in traffic yellow. Mask up the section of the pallet that you don’t want to be yellow using packing paper or protective film. Hold the spray paint can around 25 cm from the pallet and apply the paint in a crosswise motion for even coverage and best results. Next, leave the paint to dry thoroughly.

Once the paint is dry, move on to the next colour (light lavender in our case). Once again, mask up any areas of the pallet that you don’t want painted in your second colour; then apply the paint as above. Remember: every time you take a break from painting, you’ll need to re-shake your spray cans to ensure an even finish.

Once your second colour is dry, mask up the whole of the pallet using protective film, leaving only a 30 cm diameter circle for the smiley face. Masking tape is really good for marking out the edge of the circle.

Re-shake your yellow spray can and paint the circle in traffic yellow.

Carefully remove the protective film once all the paint is dry. Next, apply a protective coat of silky matt clear lacquer all over to ensure your new bar stays looking great for as long as possible.

Finish off the smiley face by adding eyes and a mouth using your black acrylic marker.

Once you’ve finished painting and decorating all your pallets, simply assemble your bar by fixing the three sides together. And that’s it – time to get the party started and wow your guests.
