Brighten up your next garden party

These fun, colourful paper lanterns are the perfect backdrop for a feel-good garden party this summer. What’s more, they’re easy to create using permanent spray from edding. Thanks to its fine spray nozzle, it’s so incredibly simple to achieve even coverage and get right into the lanterns’ folds – for stunning results every time. We’ve chosen to use a combination of vibrant yellow, light lavender and gentian blue, but you can choose your favourite summer shades from the 35 different colours available.

Шаг 1

This picture shows two of the edding 5200 permanent sprays we’ve used in our example. You can select any of your favourite colours, but we’ve gone for traffic yellow (905), light lavender (931) and gentian blue (903).

Cover your workspace with paper or protective sheeting before you start painting. Shake the spray paint cans vigorously for around 3 minutes until you can clearly hear the mixing balls rattling around inside. Next, remove the cap and spray head from each can and detach the safety ring using a screwdriver. Take a moment to decide how you want to paint your lanterns. To create the effect shown here on the blue lantern, simply paint the top half of the lantern while it is still folded together (the bottom half is left white). To create the half-and-half design of the yellow lantern, you need to unfold the lantern and mask off one side with some protective film; once you’ve done that, spray the other side in traffic yellow and leave the paint to dry thoroughly.

edding permanent spray can also be used to give decorative rosettes that extra wow factor. Just remember: every time you take a break from painting, you’ll need to re-shake your spray cans to ensure an even finish.
