Most of the cookies used by us are session cookies, which are deleted once you terminate your browser session. They are required for transactions, and only contain a transaction ID.

Cookies do not do any harm to your PC, and do not contain any viruses. You have the opportunity to set your browser in such a way that such cooks are not even saved in the first place or that the cookies are deleted at the end of your browsing session. Please note, however, in that respect, that you may, in this case, not necessarily be able to use all the functions of our website.

In addition, we use your data for purposes provided for under applicable law. In order to reveal any abuse (spam, viruses, worms, etc.), and to detect and remedy faults, we save your IP address for seven days.

Some data needs to be passed on to third parties in order to comply with contractual and statutory requirements.

To external service providers for data processing: If service providers come into contact with personal data of our customers it is done within the scope of "contract data processing". This is a purpose explicitly provided for under applicable law (cf. Sec. 11 Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG)). Edding remains responsible for protecting your data in such a case as well. The service provider exclusively works in accordance with our instructions, which we ensure through stringent contractual provisions, technical and organisational measures and supplementary checks.

Statutory disclosure obligations: In certain cases we are statutorily obliged to transmit data to a state authority requesting it. Upon having been presented with a court decision to this effect, we are, under Sec. 101 German Copyright Act (UrhG), obliged to provide information to holders of copyrights and ancillary copyrights on customers who are said to have offered copyright-protected works on peer-to-peer file-sharing networks. In such cases, the information we provide contains the user ID of an IP address assigned at the time of the request, as well as, if known, the name and address of the customer.

4. Data control when social media plug-ins are used

Some edding web pages contain buttons of social media networks, with which you can recommend edding’s products and services to your friends and acquaintances. So that you retain full control over your data, we display greyed-out images of the respective functions (Facebook "Like" button, Google +1, Twitter button), instead of the actual social plug-ins, when the page loads. Only by clicking on the check mark next to the images is the exchange of data activated by the respective social plug-in being loaded with the website. If you activate a plug-in with a mouseclick, the following data may be transmitted to the website operators:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser information and your operating system
  • Your screen resolution
  • Any browser plug-ins installed, such as Adobe Flash Player
  • The origin of the visitor, if you followed a link (referrer URL)
  • The URL of the current page

You may revoke your consent to the social plug-ins being displayed on this page, with effect for the future. The next time you retrieve the page, a greyed-out image is then shown again instead of the active social plug-in, and no further data is transmitted.
