edding developed the new Acrylics line by drawing on its many years of expertise in inks and markers. The result is a range of three different types of marker, plus an innovative 3D double liner that’s shaped like a marker for easy, spontaneous painting (primarily on canvas and paper), meaning no more tedious messing about with paintbrushes and pots of paint. Acrylics are ideal for abstract motifs, but can also be used to create all kinds of figurative landscape scenes, detailed portraits and animal motifs.
The Acrylic range at a glance
Available in up to 26 vibrant colours, the three acrylic markers allow paint to be applied in a variety of ways. There’s plenty of choice for the hobby artist: a chisel nib measuring 5-10 mm for larger areas, a round nib (2-3 mm), and a fine nib (1-2 mm nib) for precise visual elements. To give the products a really long lifespan, replacement nibs are available separately. Manufactured in Germany, the range’s highlight is the innovative acrylic 3D double liner in the form of a flexible tube with two applicator tips. Containing artist-quality acrylic paste, the double liner can produce impressive 3D effects; the narrow tip is ideal for fine lines and delicate touches, while the broad nib lends itself to larger areas and structures. The smooth consistency of the paste means that colours can be blended with ease. What’s more, by adding water it’s even possible to create watercolour-effect pictures. But the pleasure of painting doesn’t end there: these brilliant, high-coverage acrylic paints are not only light-fast, low-odour and waterproof when dry, they can also be applied with precision. Another major advantage is that the colours and textures have been co-ordinated with the popular edding acrylic permanent spray range, enabling even more combinations and imaginative creations.
edding worked closely with a number of artists on the design and development of the different sets: the Start Easy Set has eight markers, enabling users to get off to a quick start. The larger Creative Set, meanwhile, contains 12 products, including the 3D double liner. Both sets come with free canvas paper included. In addition, there is a selection of assorted sets in carefully coordinated colours, so there’s nothing to stop anyone from getting straight down to some acrylic painting – by simply grabbing the right acrylic set, paper or canvas, and heading off to a park or café to seek out their chosen motif.
To boost awareness, the launch of the acrylic range will be accompanied by targeted social media campaigns (including exciting competitions) on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest, as well as collaborations with influencers who have a wide reach. To ease beginners into the art of acrylic painting, the edding creative website features inspiring ideas, together with step-by-step instructions and video tutorials. In addition, it offers a range of templates with attractive motifs.
