Step-by-step
Step 1
Screw the wooden battens securely onto the square-edged length of wood, making sure they're an equal distance apart and in size order (starting with the shortest at the top). Top tip: Make pilot holes first before screwing each one firmly down with two screws.
Step 2
Decorate each wooden batten with an attractive design, such as “Merry Christmas” in various languages.
Step 3
You can write directly onto the wood with the edding 1455 calligraphy marker, as the writing nib is very flexible which makes it ideal for writing on rough surfaces. Or if you prefer, you can write the letters faintly in pencil first. Add some festive stars or décor between the words.
Step 4
Distribute the nails evenly across the width of the battens and hammer them into the square-edged pillar. Hang and arrange a few small sprigs of pine on the nails.
Step 5
Your advent calendar frame is now complete! Now you just need to hang some little bags full of surprises from the nails - if you make them out of paper, you can use an edding calligraphy marker to add some more festive designs.
