Step-by-step
Step 1
Wash out any fabric finish from a new tea towel or oven gloves and allow to dry. Enlarge the teapot template to the size you want and print it out on paper. Those with a little more experience can draw their own freehand template straight onto paper – with an edding marker in black, for instance. Place the template under the tea towel. It's best to plan ahead how you want the motif to be distributed across the tea towel. Note: you can alternate the direction of the spout to face left or right. Remember to place the cardboard under the tea towel before applying the colour so the ink doesn't soak through to the surface below.
Step 2
Now for the actual decorating: Take the red edding 4500 textile marker and trace around the teapot template, drawing small hearts in between. For very fine lines, the edding 4600 textile pen works best as it's just 1 mm wide. Finally, after filling in the motifs, set the colours by ironing the towel or oven gloves without steam. Now the fabric can be washed at up to 60°C.
