How to make the most of your gloss paint marker?

Hints and tips on how to activate your marker

  • Shake the marker firmly with the cap on
  • Remove the cap
  • Pump the marker with the nib downwards on a piece of scrap paper
  • Carefully pump it up and down until ink fills the nib
  • The marker is now ready to use
  • After use, always replace the cap securely
  • Store the marker horizontally

How to store your markers properly?

  • Always store the markers horizontally
  • Keeping them nib up for a long period of time, the color pigments may collect at the bottom of the markers and, as a result, they are not ready for use as usual and  write only weakly
  • If this happens anyway, please put it upside down for about an hour so that the color pigments are redistributed
  • The markers should not be exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures during storage

How to "care for" your gloss paint marker

Did you know that you can swap the tips of all four gloss paint marker models? So if yours is damaged, you don't have to replace the whole marker right away. This not only good for the environment but also saves you money! And the exchange is not even time-consuming or complicated:

  1. Take a piece of kitchen paper or a tissue, hold the nib of your gloss paint marker and carefully pull it out.
  2. You can then easily ins ert the new nib and re-activate the marker.

Just make sure that the replacement nib has the same number as your marker so that you can be sure that it fits properly.

Write out the gloss paint marker before storing it horizontally ready for the next use

When activating the gloss paint marker, you pump the color pigments in to the marker nib after shaking it. If the gloss paint marker is not used for a longer period of time, these pigments may dry out in the nib. This disrupts the flow of paint and the gloss paint marker does not write so evenly the next time it is used. To avoid this, we recommend that you write out the gloss paint markers when you are finished. As soon as you have finished your decoration, you simply take a piece of scratch paper and continue to write with the marker until the clour fades. Don't worry, the marker is of course not empty, only the nib is no longer filled with color pigments. The next time you use the marker, simply pump up the marker again and you are ready to start again!
