For best results, start by washing the crockery with water (a dishwasher is ideal for this) and then wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential for removing any invisible protective film applied during manufacture. The smooth application ensures an even colour distribution without any drips.
Only apply paint to the outer surface of the mug and leave a paint-free gap around the rim. The tip of the porcelain brushpen is very flexible, allowing you to create very fine lines or broad brush strokes. We recommend drawing the outline of your design (e.g. the heart) first using the brush-shaped tip of the pen and then holding the pen flatter to colour it in. Delicate details or letters are easy to achieve with the fine brush tip. If you make a mistake, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or cotton bud. Corrections can be made at any time before the pattern is fixed by baking in the oven.
When you're happy with your design, leave it to dry for 15 minutes. Next, place the painted item on a cold oven shelf, slide it into the pre-heated oven and bake it at 160°C for 25 minutes. Leave in the oven to cool afterwards. After heat fixing, your personalised mugs or coffee cups will be dishwasher-safe.
