Step-by-step
Step 1
You can see everything you’ll need at a glance in our photo. The template is available to download and print out. We’ve used two white chalk markers: the edding 4085 chalk marker by Securit and the slightly wider edding 4095.
Step 2
Before you start decorating, activate the chalk marker as follows: vigorously shake the marker with the cap on, then remove the cap and pump the marker up and down a few times on a piece of absorbent paper until ink appears in the nib. Once you’ve finished using the marker, always ensure that the cap is on securely and store the pen horizontally. Wipe the slate board with a damp cloth to remove any dust.
Step 3
Get your template in place and draw the lettering on the board using a pencil. Alternatively, you can also place light-coloured carbon paper between the board and template, and simply trace over the wording with a pencil.
Step 4
Next, outline and colour in the lines of text with the activated chalk markers. For the words with narrower letters, such as THE and STARTS, we recommend using the edding 4085 with its fine nib.
Step 5
For the larger words, you can use the edding 4095 chalk marker. If, after a while, the liquid chalk stops flowing as freely, briefly pump the marker up and down a few more times before continuing with your lettering.
