Step-by-step

Step 1
You can see everything you need for this project in the photo below. In our example, we’ve chosen to use edding permanent sprays in traffic red and rose gold, as well as a permanent marker. If your bed sheet has elasticated corners, you’ll need to cut these off before you start so that your sheet lies nice and flat.

Step 2
Start by drawing a large heart shape onto your sheet of paper using your permanent marker (remember it needs to be large enough for the wedding couple to step through at the end of the game, so you might need to stick a couple of sheets of paper together). Next, cut out your paper heart.

Step 3
Before you start painting, activate your red spray paint by shaking the can vigorously for around 3 minutes until you can clearly hear the mixing balls rattling around inside. Next, remove the safety ring using a screwdriver. You might also want to check out the “Permanent spray basics” page on our website for some handy tips on how to create the perfect spray paint finish.

Step 4
Place your paper heart template onto your bed sheet and spray some large red splodges all around the outside of the heart. Remember to make sure you get plenty of paint overlapping the edge of the paper template.

Step 5
Next, activate your rose gold spray paint and add lots of rose gold splodges in between the red ones. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly and then carefully remove the paper template.

Step 6
And that’s it – time for the fun to begin! At the wedding, the couple will each cut round one half of the heart (from top to bottom) so that their scissors meet again at the tip.
