Step-by-step
Step 1
To create your one line artwork, choose acrylic markers in your favourite colours. With its broad chisel nib, the edding 5000 acrylic marker is ideal for colouring in large areas. The delicate blossoms have been painted in white using the acrylic 3D double liner.
Step 2
First, use a pencil to trace the outlines on the acrylic and oil pad.
Step 3
Before you start to draw, activate the acrylic markers as follows: shake the marker with the cap on until you can hear the mixing balls rattle inside the marker, then carefully pump the nib up and down until ink appears in the tip. When you’re pumping the marker up and down, it is very important to hold it at a slight angle to ensure you don’t damage the chisel tip. Test the marker first on a piece of scrap paper. You can use neon orange for this.
Step 4
First, paint all areas of colour with the broad acrylic marker in your chosen shade. As well as neon orange, we also used warm beige and gentian blue. Before you start with a new colour, always let the first colour dry thoroughly. This will give you beautifully defined blocks of colour. Once everything is completely dry, use the white double liner to paint the blossom in a single line. Of course, you’re allowed to have a break whilst doing this.
Step 5
Once you’ve designed several pictures in this style, hang them side by side to create a striking wall display.
