Step-by-step

Step 1

Make sure you have all your materials to hand before you start. You can see everything at a glance in our photo. You’ll need edding 2185 gel rollers in the following colours: gold (colour code 053), pink metallic (079), silver (054), green metallic (074) and blue metallic (073), plus the edding 1340 brush pen in black.

Step 2

Fold the black paper in half to make a folded card. Now draw the exploding starburst effects on the front of the card – a big one at the top and two smaller ones underneath. With the incredibly fine pen nib and the striking effect of the metallic colours, you’ll be able to draw an impressive colour display in a flash! Leave a space at the centre of each firework for a pom pom.

Step 3

Next, write your decorative greeting on the strip of white paper, something along the lines of “Have a Fluffy New Year”. The strip of paper should be exactly the same width as your card and about 2-3 cm high. The edding 1340 brush pen is ideal for writing in calligraphy because the flexible tip allows you to create both broader brush strokes and very fine lines.

Step 4

Glue the greeting to the bottom of the card, leaving a narrow band of black visible for decorative effect. Finally, stick a pom pom in the middle of each firework.
