Step-by-step
Step 1
Before you start, we recommend you wash and dry your stocking to ensure that the textile pen ink adheres well to the fabric. We’ve created our design using edding 4600 textile pens in black and red, but there are other great colours to choose from if you prefer.
Step 2
Print out the template and cut it to the correct size. Next, slide the template inside your stocking, making sure you can see the design through the fabric so you can trace it.
Step 3
Using your black textile pen, trace over the outlines of the Father Christmas motif before gradually adding the other design elements. You can also personalise your stocking by adding the recipient’s name to the cuff at the top.
Step 4
Once the outline is complete, use your other textile pens to colour in your design (red for the coat, perhaps, and black for the boots and gloves).
Step 5
Once you’ve done that, run an iron over your finished design (without steam) to fix the ink to ensure your finished stocking can be washed at up to 60°C.
Step 6
If you want to create multiple stockings with different designs, we’ve also got a second template that looks like this.
