Step-by-step

Step 1

In our example, we’ve chosen to use X multi markers in black and white. Before starting your design, you first need to activate your X multi markers. To do this, shake each of the markers with the cap still on until you can hear the small ball rattling inside the marker pen. Next, carefully press the nib up and down a few times on a piece of scrap paper until the ink fills the tip. You can also use the piece of paper to try out a few practice marks.

Step 2

Start by drawing the outline for your design in white (or another colour of your choice). The narrow edge of the chisel nib is especially good for drawing fine lines.

Step 3

Leave the ink to dry completely (you don’t want different colours running together) before adding extra details such as this smiley face, which we’ve created using the pointed edge of our black marker.
