“Film reel” money gift idea

Simple DIY present

Whether for a wedding, a milestone birthday or an anniversary – a home-made money gift will always go down well. You can tailor it to suit the individual concerned whilst showing off your creativity. Our idea is reminiscent of a reel of film recognisable from cinemas of old. We have decorated the reel by gluing on photos, greetings and heartfelt messages written using edding permanent pens. The fine tip is perfect for lettering and detailed drawings alike. You can even inscribe the actual photos because the ink adheres to smooth surfaces without any problem.

Step-by-step

Step 1

For this idea, we used edding 140S permanent pens in a range of colours. First, pick out a few photos to add to your money gift for decoration.

Step 2

Arrange your photos and banknotes (folded) on the paper strip and secure using double-sided sticky tape or a glue stick.

Step 3

Use permanent pens to write greetings or heartfelt messages on pre-cut star shapes or speech bubbles.

Step 4

Because the edding 140S comes in five colours, you can decorate your greetings to great, colourful effect.

Step 5

Once the film (paper) strip is ready, it’s time to put together your reel. First, take the card and cut out two discs measuring roughly 16 cm in diameter. Take the black sheet of paper and cut out four circles of equal size.

Step 6

In two of the black circles, cut several holes (making sure they are evenly spaced). Next, glue a perforated circle of black paper to one side of each cardboard disc and an unperforated circle of black paper to the other side. Finally, loosely roll up the decorated paper strip and glue the cardboard circles onto the left and right of the paper strip, with the perforated sides facing outwards.

Step 7

Make sure that a good length of the “reel of film” is visible rather than having the entire reel rolled up. And there you have it: a present that anyone will enjoy!
