Step-by-step

Step 1
You can see everything you need for this project in the photo. edding 5200 permanent spray paints come in a selection of many different colours. In our example, we’ve opted for traffic white (922), rust effect (936) and concrete effect (941).

Step 2
Start by painting the “king”. We’ve chosen pure white for the crown and a two-colour striped design for the base. Before spraying with rust-effect paint, apply masking tape to all areas of the wood that you want to remain unpainted at the end.

Step 3
Cover your workspace with protective sheeting or paper ready for spray-painting. Next, remove the cap from the spray can and detach the safety ring using a screwdriver. You might also want to check out the Permanent spray basics page on our website for some handy tips on creating the perfect spray paint finish.

Step 4
For the best results and even coverage, hold the spray can around 25 cm from the wood and don’t spray the same area for too long. Spray the “king” all over using the rust-effect paint (you can paint over the crown in white later). Then leave the paint to dry thoroughly.

Step 5
Once the “king” is completely dry, remove the masking tape and apply fresh masking tape to the areas you’ve just painted before spraying with the concrete-effect paint.
Repeat the same process with the “kubbs”, i.e. mask the areas you want to remain unpainted at the end and then spray half the “kubbs” with rust-effect paint and half with concrete-effect paint.

Step 6
Paint each team‘s throwing batons in the same colour as their “kubbs”. The design is up to you; you could add a band around the middle, paint the top-half only or add a series of stripes.

Step 7
Once everything is completely dry, carefully remove all the masking tape – and that’s it. You’re all set for your next Kubb tournament!
