Step-by-step

Step 1
You will need edding 5200 permanent spray in a colour of your choice. In our example, we’ve gone for Neon Pink (969), Berry (910), Rich Gold (924) and Light Grey (925). Before you start spraying, cover the area well with paper or film. In our Permanent Spray Basics, we’ve got handy tips on how to achieve a perfect finish. In this photo, you can see how to remove the safety ring from the spray can.

Step 2
To make the lantern with the striped effect, first stick individual strips of masking tape onto those parts that are to be left unsprayed.

Step 3
This is how your jar should look once you’ve added all your strips.

Step 4
We recommend spraying from a distance of around 25 cm for optimum results. To avoid any drips, make sure you don’t spray the same spot for too long. Next, leave it to dry thoroughly.

Step 5
Once the paint has dried thoroughly, carefully remove the masking tape. And that’s all there is to it – your jar lanterns are ready!

Step 6
Next, spray your glass bottle in Berry and leave it to dry.

Step 7
Now spray the top of the bottle in Rich Gold and leave it to dry. You can mix and match other colours in whatever way you choose by repeating the steps above.
