Step-by-step

Step 1
You'll need sheets of thick brighly-coloured art paper and an edding matt paint marker. Cut the paper into strips 11 cm wide and 44 cm long. Fold the long paper strips three times into a concertina shape to make four squares each measuring 11 x 11 cm.

Step 2
Now you can begin decorating the card. Children will enjoy joining in, but remember that the matt paint markers are waterproof and will not wash out of clothing. We drew large, colourful balloons on the orange card. For a striking effect, try positioning the balloons so they stick out over the edge of the card and trim to fit.

Step 3
Don't forget to write the start and end time for the party as well as the venue. Write the guest's name on the front of the card in large, shiny letters.

Step 4
The highlight of the card is the small balloon with its homemade cord. Use our template to cut the balloon shape from a piece of dark brown paper and glue it above the name together with the twisted cord. Have fun!
