Making the canvas:
First, download the templates you want from our website, adapting them where necessary to create the right layout and to fit for your canvas size. Paint the surface of the canvas using the acrylic-based spray paint, and allow to dry thoroughly.
Once dry, place the templates on the canvas and use a co-ordinating colour to add the surface detail. Remember to allow the paint to dry between applications to avoid any mishaps.
Finally, use the pencil to mark the position of the bags on the canvas, then take the skewer or a small screwdriver and make small holes for attaching the paper fasteners to hang the bags from.
Folding the bags:
Fold a sheet of paper leaving 15 mm sticking out on the right hand side.
Fold the remaining strip inward and secure to the inside edge with double-sided tabe to create a tube.
Fold the bottom edge of the paper up to a height of no greater than half as high as the lower length – shown here as ‘a’.
Open up the lower section and fold the corners back toward the centre.
Secure the slight overlap with double-sided tape.
Open the bag and attach the bulldog clips.
Fold the sides inward to form a square base.
Decorating the bags:
Use the edding 751 gloss paint marker to decorate with numbers 1-24 or an alternative design of your choice (see examples). Once the ink has dried, fill them with small gifts and re-attach the bulldog clips – and there, it's finished!
