Step-by-step
Step 1
In our example, we used edding 2185 gel rollers in a range of metallic shades. You can see everything you need at a glance in our photo.
Step 2
Decide on your page layout and sketch it out lightly in pencil first. Our theme is a day trip to Hamburg, so we drew Hamburg’s skyline along the bottom of two pages. If you fancy using a template, place a sheet of carbon paper between the template and your journal before tracing over the motifs.
Step 3
Using the silver gel roller, go over the skyline once more. The ink covers exceptionally well, so the pencil lines won’t be visible afterwards.
Step 4
In the top-left corner, write the words "Day trip" in green metallic ink. For an easy and highly effective way of achieving a 3D look, make the edges of your letters bolder and thicker.
Step 5
As a final step, you’ll need to glue in your photos. Why not draw a gold frame around each one? It's easy to liven up your 2-page spread with a few extra decorative touches and brief captions in sketchnote form – pink metallic and pastel yellow are also good for this.
Step 6
Now it's time to glue on your photos. If there's enough space, you can continue to decorate your pages with extra motifs and features.
