“Happy Easter” letter puzzle

We’ve been busy crafting over the past few weeks, and we’ve come up with these amazing decorated eggs as a way to display your chosen Easter greeting. The eggs are blown out first before being painted with watercolours to create a stunning marbling effect. Once the paint is dry, you can add your Easter greeting – we decided to go for “HAPPY EASTER”. You just need to make sure that you place the eggs in the correct order afterwards, so the message is easy to read! We recommend our edding 1455 calligraphy markers for this design. The finished eggs look equally great as a table decoration or hanging from a branch – both indoors and out, because the ink in the calligraphy markers is both weather-proof and lightfast, making them ideal for balconies and patios.

Step-by-step

Step 1

To blow out the eggs before decorating: pierce a hole at each end of the egg and, using a pin, carefully make the holes a little bigger. Blow hard through one hole to remove the contents. Next, rinse out the shell with clean water. To create the marble effect, paint the hollow eggs with the watercolours. To do this, mount the egg on a wooden stick and moisten with water before applying the watercolour paint with the paintbrush. To make the colours to run into each other, simply use more water. Leave the eggs on the wooden sticks until dry.

Step 2

Sketch out the letters in pencil first, one letter per egg. The size of the letters should allow enough space for the decorating in step 2. Anything goes – your lettering can be big or small, narrow or broad or, ideally, a combination of styles.

Step 3

Next, go over the pencil letters with an edding 1455 calligraphy marker in your chosen colour. The markers are ready to use straight away and feature a soft, ultra-flexible calligraphy nib that makes writing and drawing a pleasure from the moment you pick up the pen.
