Step-by-step

Step 1
We’ve created our design using the X multi marker set that includes magenta, light green and yellow markers. Our design template is available for you to download, or you can create your own personal design. We’d recommend drawing it out in pencil first, but you can also go straight ahead and draw freehand if you prefer.

Step 2
The X multi markers need to be activated before use. To do this, shake your markers with the cap still on until you can hear the mixing ball inside the pen rattling. Then carefully press the nib down a few times on some scrap paper until the ink fills the tip. You can also use the paper to try out a few practice marks. Once your markers are ready, select your first colour (we’ve chosen magenta) and draw the first parts of your design using the narrow edge of the nib.

Step 3
Wait for the ink to dry before moving on to your next colour (you don’t want the different colours to run together). Then add the next elements of your design (we’ve used light green). The broad edge of the marker’s chisel nib is especially good for adding wide brush strokes. Leave your design to dry again...

Step 4
...before adding the outline in a third colour (like we’ve done here in yellow). Wait for everything to dry and that’s it – your rucksack is finished!
