Step-by-step

Step 1

To create your gift tag, you will need two extra-fine edding 5500 acrylic markers – one in black and one in white. A copy of the design template is also available for you to download.

Step 2

First, draw the outlines of the ice-cream cone and the smiley faces onto your paper using a pencil and cut them out. For added effect, use paper in different colours.

Step 3

Before you start adding your design, activate your acrylic markers as follows: shake the marker with the cap still on until you can hear the small mixing ball rattling inside the marker. Next, carefully press the nib up and down a few times on a piece of scrap paper until the ink fills the tip. Try out a few test strokes on your piece of scrap paper. Once you’re happy, start adding your smiley faces using your black acrylic marker.

Step 4

Once you’ve done that, go back over your smiley faces with your white acrylic marker to really bring them to life. To create your ice-cream cone, add a white chequered pattern to mimic a waffle effect. Next, use your black pen to highlight the pattern and give it a 3D look.

Step 5

Once you’re happy with your drawings, glue the smileys onto the top of the cone to look like scoops of ice-cream.

Step 6

If you’re using plain wrapping paper, you can also use your white and black acrylic markers to add your own intricate, eye-catching designs. Thanks to their extra fine tips, the edding 5500 acrylic markers are ideal for creating beautiful designs and drawings in next to no time.
