Step-by-step

Step 1

Make sure you have all the materials you need before starting. To achieve a smooth finish, the paper you’re going to spray should be as clean and free of dust as possible.

Step 2

Depending on the size of your Advent calendar cones, fold the newspaper two or three times and roll it into a sturdy, pointed cone. Next, seal the edges with sticky tape.

Step 3

Cut straight across the wide end of the cone and fold over the edges to give your cone a solid base.

Step 4

Carefully cover your work surface with sheets. We recommend that you spray paint from a distance of approx. 25 cm using horizontal and vertical strokes to ensure more even coverage. First, spray the lower half of the cones, in mild mint for example. In our Spray basics article, we offer important tips on how to achieve perfect results.

Step 5

Leave to dry for a short time, before spraying the upper half of the cone with the permanent spray in light ivory. Leave the cone to dry thoroughly. Continue to paint the other cones in the same way until your Advent calendar is finished.

Step 6

Now it’s time to make the circular number tags. For this, you will need 24 paper circles, either in black or white. You can easily create perfect circles using the lid of your spray can.

Step 7

Cut out the circles and punch a hole at the top of each one. You can decorate the black circles with the white gloss paint marker and the white circles using the black gloss paint marker. Finally, attach a ribbon to each number and hang it around the Advent calendar cone like a ‘necklace’.
