Step-by-step

Step 1

In our example, we’ve chosen to use X multi markers in yellow, light green, black and magenta. Before starting your design, you’ll first need to activate your markers. To do this, shake each of the markers with the cap still on until you can hear the small ball rattling inside the pen. Next, carefully press the nib up and down a few times on a piece of scrap paper until the ink fills the tip. You can also use the scrap paper to try out a few practice marks.

Step 2

Download our flower design template and keep it to hand. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can first copy the design onto your pencil case using a pencil. That way, all that’s left to do is colour in the flowers using your X multi markers. Start by using your yellow multi marker to create the yellow petals. The narrow side of the chisel nib is especially good for drawing fine lines. Wait for the yellow to dry thoroughly.

Step 3

Repeat the same step with your magenta marker. You’ll find the broad side of the chisel nib is really handy for colouring in the petals.

Step 4

Wait for all the colours to dry thoroughly before using the narrow side of your light green marker to add a wavy line (like the outline of a flower) around the smiley. You can also add happy little faces to each of the flowers using the narrow side of your black marker.
