Step-by-step

Step 1
You can see everything you need for this project in the picture below. Our paraglider template is available for you to download and print. In our example, we’ve used the following acrylic markers: the edding 5400 acrylic 3D double liner in telemagenta and neon yellow, the broad edding 5000 acrylic marker in berry, telemagenta, traffic yellow and neon yellow, the medium edding 5100 acrylic marker in traffic yellow, neon yellow, white and mellow mint, and the fine edding 5300 acrylic marker in white. There are, however, many other colours available, so just choose your favourites!

Step 2
Take the template and roughly cut out the various paragliders. Arrange them on your painting.

Step 3
Stick each of paragliders in place using sticky tape. If you decide you don’t like where you’ve positioned them, you can simply move them around at any time.

Step 4
Now cut neatly around the edge of each of the paragliders and use a pencil to transfer the figures onto your painting.

Step 5
Now, it’s time to get colourful. First, activate all your acrylic markers (except the doubler liners) by shaking each marker with the cap still on until you can hear the small ball rattling inside. Next, carefully press the nib down a few times on a piece of scrap paper until the ink fills the tip. You can also use the scrap paper to try out a few practice marks. Once you’re ready, colour in the little parachutes and the paragliders in your chosen colours. In our example, we’ve used the broad acrylic marker in traffic yellow to design the parachute. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly.

Step 6
Once the paint has dried, use a ruler and your fine white acrylic marker to add the parachute cords.

Step 7
The double liners do not need to be activated and can be used straightaway, enabling you to create textured effects in next to no time. Remove the cap carefully from the end with the fine tip and draw the outline of your parachute in neon yellow.

Step 8
And that’s it – your new paraglider-themed masterpiece is complete! Of course, there are plenty of other ways to breathe new life into an old masterpiece. Just see where your imagination takes you.
