Creative table decorations for football fans

The World Cup: it creates excitement, team spirit and fantastic moments shared together. And if you’re watching the tournament with others, you’ll want your buffet to do just the same! Use edding colour pens and mini highlighters to design your own cocktail sticks by adding mini football strips, flags and other symbols to brighten up your table decorations and turn your football feast into a veritable highlight.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see everything you need to create your own colourful World Cup table decorations in this photo: paper, scissors, sticky tape, kebab sticks, a black permanent marker and edding mini highlighters in vibrant shades. Simply choose your favourite colours.

Step 2

Use the mini highlighters to draw blocks of colour on your sheet of paper. At this stage, simply sketch a rough outline of your football shirts and decide how big your finished cocktail sticks will be. Just let your creativity run wild! Neon shades are brilliant for creating vibrant effects. Next, take the permanent marker and draw the outline of your football shirts (front and back) within the blocks of colour you applied earlier, not forgetting to add the rear shirt numbers.

Step 3

Take a fresh sheet of paper and use the permanent marker to add four squares of equal size (for the flags). Use edding colour pens to make things really colourful - it doesn’t matter whether you add national flags or your own colour combinations, the choice is yours! As you’ll be cutting out the flags in the step below, don’t worry at this stage if you colour over the edge a little - it won’t be visible later on.

Step 4

Cut out your football shirts and flags and stick them to your cocktail sticks using sticky tape.

Step 5

Insert your football shirts and flags into prepared savoury bites, sweet treats and other party snacks. And that’s it! Your unique table decorations are ready for the World Cup!
