Festive decoration with a red theme

A table decoration for a special family celebration should not only be in keeping with the occasion, it should also look amazing, with nothing left to chance. This table centrepiece uses white combined with warm, red tones to create a unique accessory with a spring theme – it would be perfect as part of your confirmation table decorations, for instance.

For a festive touch, simple yet effective designs on candle holders (like the flower pattern shown here) are easy to achieve with edding calligraphy markers. We painted these porcelain vases in a matching design using edding porcelain brushpens. Choose items made of oven-proof ceramic or porcelain and bake them in the oven afterwards to fix the design permanently.

Step-by-step

Step 1

First, cut a strip of translucent paper to make a band large enough to go round the candle holder. To get the design just right you may wish to practise writing with the marker beforehand.

Step 2

Using the edding calligraphy marker, draw some bold flower shapes on the paper. The ultra-flexible nib of the marker makes designs really easy to apply and also makes lettering look really expressive. The ink is permanent, fast-drying and works well on either rough or smooth surfaces. Glue the finished band around the candle holder.
